RAILWAY CARRIAGE OF BUTTER.
A CONCESSION ASKED FOR. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 24. A deputation from the National Dairy Association, accompanied by members of Parliament, waited on Sir J. G. Ward, Minister for Railways, to-day to urge a reduction of one-third on the freight of butter and cheese. The Minister said such a concession meant £4OOO a year, but the industry deserved every encouragement. A more important matter was sea freight, and the recent concessions meant £50,000 per annum They should endeavour to retain S? e ' He wouW do what w as possHHe in the direction the deputation asked. ' The deputation afterwards saw Mr Seddon. and objected,, to engineers in butter and cheese factories coming under the arbitration awards I forfhw^-. th f ™tter was one for the Arbitration Court.
