The Lands Scandal.
WILLIS DECEIVES THE JUDGE. (Received July 24, 10.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 21. The Lands Commission resumed today. Justice Owen, referring to Willis' intentions to visit South Africa, and his statement that he had Justice Owen's concurrence to leave tho State, gave it a most emphatic and positive dental. The facts, said his Honour, were that Willis, desirinicto contradict certain evidence and stating that he might be unable to attend the Commission lor three or Jour weeks, owing to ill-health, was told he would be afforded an opportunity before the inquiry closed. The Commission was no longer bound by a promise which it turned out was obtained under absolutely false statements, and he would certainly not delay closing the Commission for Willis' convenience.
