The Compensation Court, presidtAi over bjr the Chief Justice,- to-day commenced {he hearing of tiHe cas.\ trustees of the late C. R. BidwcH versus the Crown. This is a claim for £65,000 in respect of the Taw-hii Estate, eitimtcd near Featherston. The property was originally, owned by Mr C. Bidwell, one of the earliest • settlers in WaArajrapa,; whjc, on his I death, left it, subject to tin annuity Ito his widow and a legacy t;o his daughter, in trust Vo his son; now [about six years of age. Recently the Government decided to resume the estate under the Land for Settlement Act, and tfie trustees made a Claim for the amount ..stated, also asking that a thousand acres should be reserved n terms of the Act to the i owner. One of the important features of the case the Court is now called upon to determine is the locality where this area is to be situated, the parties having hitffiierto failed to agree on the matter, ' '•
