Harbour Works.
In his monthly report to the Harbour Board on Friday the foreman of works at the Breakwater (Mr F. Henderson) stated : Wharf Extension.—Ten piles have beun drift-eri, comprising two bays, the corresponding headstocks' andl longitudinal stringers have been fitted in, and 20ft in length has been decked.
Wharf.—Six new chafing pieces have been put in. ona new brace, and six new deck planks. A start will v :e made next week to plank up tho noreh-east cornel- of the wharf, as recommended by tho Union Company.
Mmikwatcr Extension.—A good deal of stormy and wet weather has Been experienced throughout the month, and work had to be suspend, ed at the end of the wall on soven days. The stono put over for the month was 1495 tons, also eight concrete blocks were placed in position and another section of 7ft of! the extension completed last Tuesday. The totnl length of the now extensisn.' now completed is over 50 l. Th? diantity of material used in tHis totals 4568 tons of stone, 24 Concrete blocks, and 283 cubic yards of C:yncreto. Forty-four Cp»crete blocks are still on hand, and about 900 tons of stono quarried und ready for use. The quarry crane has not yet been shifted, as the quality of the stone obtained has improved greatly sinco my last report. '
