New Plymouth Harbour Board.
MONTHLY MEETING
The Harbour Board mel on Friday. Mr J. ». Connett (Chairman} presided, and thero were airo present Messrs Newton K ng. McLean, Price, Thomson, Word, Hornby, Hine Jun., and Maxwell.
—Currie Street.—
The Borough Council intimated its willingness to take over that portion oi Currie Street extension at present owned by the Board, subject to the payment of £7O, with which the Council undertakes to put the street in proper repair, and the Board's undertaking that' when the present leases expire it will dedicate to the Council the narrow strip required to make the street the full 66ft wide. The offer was accepted, with the stipulation that the Counc 1 pay the cost oi dedicating the Street.
—Gill Street Extension.—
Messrs Govctt end Quilliam, the Uorough Council solicitors, wrote confirming the. Council's acceptance, subject to approval by the ratepayers, of the Board's offer to hand over the control of certain land to assist in opening up dill Street.
—Harbour Survey.—
The harbourmaster. Captain Hood, submitted a plan showing tho result of the survey made by him on June 14. .The depths, he keeping very satisfactory throughout the harbour.
—Harbour Association.— The executive of the Harbour Association of New Zealand inquired whether there were any subjects that the Board desired to bring up for consideration at the next lneetingi of the association, in view, of the approaching Parliamentary session.—Received.
—Lighting.—
Messrs Chance Bros, and Co. wrote acknowledging receipt of £2lO !n connection with the new light. They made one or two suggestions wtb regard to the Installation and caro of tho incandescent burners. The letter was referred to the works committee. ■-Bails.-
. It was reported that the purchase had been completed from the Hallway Department of 100 second-class 581b rails at £5 per ton. —Finances.—
The financial 'statement was presented. Accounts amounting to £B7l Ss sd. together with £450 on paysheeta between meetings, were passed for payment. Thfe revenue .since last meeting showed:—Sundries £8 0s Id; rents, £B6O 12s 7d; shipping dues, £2lO 5s 6d ; owing to May 27 £875 12s Bd. The present debit balance was £4IBB 8a 6d, as compared with £8706 1?» Bd for Inst month. ■ ,
