HAURAKI GULF FISHING.
I (I'er Fress Association ) I THAMES, June 18. In response to a tdeg|ram from the inspector of Fisheries with reference to the proposal to open the Haui'akl Gulf to trawlers, Thames fishermen have despatched a telegram strongly protesting against their introduction within the gulf waters as likely to seriously injure the fishing industry, and to cause a large destruction of fish, as the guif is a natural spawnling ground for fish.j Mr McGowan was also communicated with, and was asked to interfere lin the intercuts of the fUJusmen.
