Fitzroy Fire Brigade Ball.
The second annual ball promoted in connection with the Fitzcoy Vbo Brigade duly eventuated on Thursday evening, proving a highly successful eocial function. The attendance, though not up to the splendid; |figures,recorded last year, was very sausfuctvoiy, despite the unpropiti- ' oua weather. The visitors included ■aiptains of the Stratford, inglewood and New Plymouth brigades,, Mr I£. M. Smith, M.U.U., being ulso piesent. The Mayor was unable to attend through Council business*. The. large hull looted quite a pcture with its wealth of decoralions, ior which credit is due to the uiuinbeis of the '(brigade. With an enjoy- . aWe dance programme, a good lloor, and music by McKiniion Huin's orchestra, which all votaries of the Teipsichorean art fully appreciate,, the hours passed uway very pleasantly, indeed Messrs E. Humphries, L. Steele n.nd T. I look olliciuting as M's.l.'. ltooiiis wi-rV set.apart; foigames, in which this non-dancing portion were interested. The supper-room looked most attractive. The ladies' committee, who worked hard to make the success achieved, includes :—Mesdumes F. Griffitlisi (president), 'Dockrill, J. Kibby, W. (<rilliths„ Chi vers, Wcllcr, W.
