MACDERMWTT'S UTOCIUFII CO. Despite the unpiopitious weather conditions the excellent exhibition of the Macdcrmott Biograph Co. drew good houses both at the Saturday" afternoon matinee for children and at the evening i>erformance. The exhibition more than fulfilled expectations, and is certainly one of the, best of the kind ever shown in New I'lymouth. The pictures include many of the latest war scenes, and the many other cleverly depicted views,cover a variety of ground that is both pleasing, and instructive, tho audience in tjie evening showing hearty appreciation of the splcndia series. With marvellous mechanical effect tho stirring incidents of the Yalu fight were thrt»\Vn on the screen, which were only excelled by a representation of the manoeuvres of battleships and the bombardment of Port Arthur. Amongst the other animated pictures those giving o glimpse of street scenes and life in Japan, a beautifully scries illustrating the song "liuy your Own Cherries,". and the highly-magnified views showing insect life and bees at work wore really admirable, A well selected arruy of comic scenes,, which divertingly interspersed the catalogue, were entirely new to the town. In the first part of the programme, Professor Scott, from Melbourne, gave a mystifying Conjuring turn, his tricks ■ being novel and cleverly executed. At a later stage he showed his versatility with a ventriloquial turn, which was received with warm approbation.. ' * The exhibition, which may bo recommended for no enjoyable evening's entertainment, will conclude this evening. A number of new pictures will bo included, and an additional attraction will be two phonographic records of songs f\v Madame Mollis,
