The last Gazette contains notification of the appointment of Mr C. E. Major, M.H.H., as a School Commissioner for Taranaki district. At Normanby on Thursday, Mr G. Betts, youngest son of Mr Henry Belts, of Okaiawa, was married to Miss Lees. Captain Norbury, of tne s.S. Rara-i wn. is at." present enjoying a welltamed holiday, and the steamer -is temporarily in charge of' Captain UltiCklock, lato master of the. s.s. Kia Ora.
