School Commissioners.

MONTHLY MEETING. The Board of [School Commission* ers met on Friday. Present : 11. Cock, H. Fault, \\. T. Jennings, aad .1. Wade. —Appointments.— A notice was received from the Secretary for Education that the Government had re-appointed Messrs I!. Cock, W. T. Jennings, M.H.li., ai:d F. Simpson as Commissioners. The Taranaki Education Board notified the rc-appointment of Messrs J. Wade and H. Fault.

Mr Cock' explained that prior to being re-gazetted he had writeen to the Minister intimating his intention to retire from the Board and other public bodies in consequence of his having accepted re-election as Mayor of Newri'lymouth.

The members present expressed the hope that he would re-considsr the matter.

Mr Coqk' consented to withdraw his resignation, at the same time paying a high tribute to the Board's solicitor und' sceretary,, whose affieient management of the business, he said, greatly relieved him o"f the work which usually devolved upon tho Chairman of an important body. Mr Cot;k was then re-elected Chair.mau of tho Board. Eltham Matter.—

The Board's solicitor reported that the Eltham Borough Council h a d paid £3OO in settlement of the Hoard's claim for /damages and loss of land.

The secretary asked for directions as to the disposal of Iho £3OO. It was agreed that, after paying legal feca and expenees, the balance be placed to the credit of the special furfd arising from the salo and dis-po.-al of primary education endowments.

—Ranger's Report.— The ranger (Mr D, Sole) reportod on the condition of a number of New Plymouth properties. —Financos.— The treasurer reported a credit of *592 2s lid. —Transfers.— Subject to the papers being found in order the following transfers were approved :-P. H, Jewiss to Thomas Mitchell, section 63, Mnnganul • J |». Fischer to D. \V. Welch, sections 804, 807, etc., Xew Plymouth ; the heirs of M. Rogudski to John DraviUi, section 56, block 6, Huiroa. On similar conditions consent w a s given to a sublease by Sydnev Pitt to C. Wilmshurst, of part section 100, block 2, Ngaire, for five years. —Mortgages.— Three mortgage matters were considered, and the Board's consent given. —Extension of TimeMrs Webber and 15. W. Neal wore granted extension of time for the Sn ni ?on!? B of in, to Juio —Accounts.— Accounts amounting to fill Os lOd were passed for payment.
