LIBEL ACTION SETTLED.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 16, In the Supreme Court this afternoon, in tho libel action between two Masterton chemists', whit;h has been settled, counsel for the defendant, Mason, said : ''l beg to slate that ho never had any intention in writi ingthe letter to the trustees to charge Mr Wood with dishonesty, extortion or unfair dealings in his transactions with the trustees. His attack was really on the system of tendering. In view, therefore, of his never having intended to reflect on Mr Wood's- honesty or integrity, he has no hesitation in withdrawing the letter. At the same time ho usserts that he was never actuated by any malice or spite towards! Mr Wood."
The question of costs has been sa'isfactorily settled, between the paries. His Honour congratulated the paries on the settlement, and dismissed he jury.
