At the conference of delegates to the Auckland -provincial branch of thfl Now Zealand Farmers' Union, the question of prohibiting the importation into New /.calami of bones and bonedust for fertilising purposes, was raised. A committee set up to go into Uie whole matter reported that Oie use of substitutes for bonedust could be oibtnaned at the name cost, but the , use of such would be experimental. R was considered that the prohibition oi importation of Ibimeduut would be seriously detrimental to the interests of farmers i«()|uiiiiig the use of such 'lerUllsws. Pond's scheme for the I sterilisation of bonedust a. thorough' trial. The report was unanimously adopted. At the Auckland Provincial Conference of the Farmers Union, it was resolved, "That the Government be ' requested to hand to local bodies the royalties derived from timber and • "ax." ,_ , j It was moved by Mr Scruby 'That the conference protest against fruit [ sellers being included in the! six, o'clock closing movement." Most of ', the speakers strongly condemned the I new Act of Parliament, but Mr S. , A.
