'I he ground was in fairly good or- | der, de-pite the rain which hail fallen previously. When play opened there was a high wind blowing diaigonally across the ground, and of th i> Tukapa, winning the toss, hud tin advantage. The bine and whites hat; much the better of the first half, ami [put in some good passing rushes, though the game was rendered vcr.v slow by both sides finding the touch line very fr«|uent ( !y. Soon after tho start a pass 1 between Frewia, Carroll .and Morey to Piran'i looked dangerous, but the last named was grassed, a force resulting. After some play in neutral territory Mynott got away with one of fiis electrical rush'es, and scored the iirst try for TuBapa, ; but failed to convert. Inglewood succeeded in getting the tall into Tukapa's territory, but it was
quickly transferred to the other end through the agency principally of Mynott and Standish, and forced
down. The visitors made a good rally, and got well up, but a shot fot the sticks, from a free kick, went just outside goal. After further give and take piny Tukapa's' skipper had another shot for goal, also ineffectual. The score at half-time stc.iu
Tukapa 3 Ing'iewood 0 The wind considerably moderated durina the second half. The play Jivened up very much, and a few minutes after the start Inglewood looked like scoring, but the defenepi was too clever. A dillicult angle shot by Lawson from a free kick was also ineffective, but the visitors, Kept attacking in dogged manner, and" play hovered near the line for some time.. Inglewood, however, showed lack of combination, and nppeared to be wanting in the dash and cleverness of their opponents at the crucial moment. Towards tho finish was the only really exciting part of the game, and inglewood's .jupportcrs were hopeful of a draw even up to the call of time. Tukapas, who had made one or two unsuccessful "'break aways," transferred the play within the last lew minutes. Morey passed to Erewin, who was, however, grassed in the nick of time to save a try by Tukapa. After some further play in ljigletwood's territory, D'itzherberl scored, and though hotly pressed, managed to get over the line, notching Tukapa's second try. Mynott's kick from goal went wide. At the call of tiime the scores stood
Tukapa 0 Inglewood o On the whole Tukapa, though not at their best, allowed a more finished gunio than the visitors. Inglewood played a sound solid game, and with a little more generalship and combination should make much improvement. STAR v. CLIFTON. This match was played at Waitara o<n Thursday afternoon.
