THE ARBITRATION COURT.
COMPENSATION POWERS TOO GREAT. (Per Press Association.) WKf.LINGTON, May 10.
This morning there was brought before His Honour the Chief Justice a question in regard to the manner or form in which certain awards under the Arbitration Court should be drawn up. His Honour, during argument, rcmnrkod thai in his opinion the power given to the Arbitration Court to fix a lump sum in eases where an award was given in favour of an injured employee was too great. It appeared to him tlwt the employee should receive an inalienable annuity, because payment of a specific Jump sum to an injured man might in many cases tend to-- | wards absolute thriftlessness, and money intended for subsistence of the workmen's wife and family would be wasted.
