OLD BOYS' ASSOCIATION, A further meeting of the ''old boys" of the Mew Plymouth High School was held al the Council Chambers on Wednesday evening. Mr J. 10. Wilson was voted to the chair* I'lie provisional eomi.mtUc appointid al the iix-eling" on April -0 reported, that tlie minimum ammull income on which the association could be carried on was estimated at £4O. This would cover the rent of rooms, newspapeus and periodicals, gas, and cleaning, leaving a balance of £ll 8s for inci'dvntal expenses such as furnishing, etc. Tlie secretary "lad made i canvass ol th» old boJ» resident in and near tlie town, and had receivt-.l promises of membership which wouM for til.: iirst year at least bring in over the amount required, without taking into account the support ol the numerous oM boys residing out of town. To such of the latter, whose addresses were known, circulars had been sent inviting them to oin the association, but replies had not yet been received. The comimlttee suggested hiring as clubrooms the rooms formerly used for the Guards' Club, adding that if a billiard tabic were arranged for it would bo a great attraction and a. source of revenue, but they stated that tlie matter would be one which would neod : careful consideration. They recommended the annual subscriptions be fixed at £1 for members residing not more than four miles from New Plymouth ; 10s for those beyoml, and a like sum for members under tho age of 18.
Jt was decided, on the motion of the chairman, that the officers of the association be a president, six vicepresidents, secretary and treasurer,, and a committee of seven. The following officers were then eleiqtod President, Mr Pildham : the members of the ltoard of Governors ; secretary and treasurer, Mr A. llcwley ; Com ml! tc-:\ Dr. Fookes, Messrs Woodhousc, Hilling, Stanley Smith, 11. Cutfleld, G. Fraser, and N. llewley. The provisional committee's recommendations as to hire of rooms and subscription fees were adopted. It was decided that ru!es should be framed and submitted to a general meeting of mombers. A ivote of thanks was accorded to the provisional committee and secretary (Mr J. Fraser). The proceedings concluded with' the usual vote of thanks to the chairman.
