At n later stage the Hoard hoped to submit a scheme for extending the, reserve southward, which when accomplished would enable them to provide a hrst-class football and sports' ground.
The revenue showed :—Horough Council subsidy £SO, rent £4 2si (id, donations, Messrs Collett £2 2«, F. P. Webster £l, Sladden and Palmer £4 4s, duo to treasurer 14s, total £62 2s 6d. The expenditure amounted to £6l 13s 3d, leaving a credit balance on March 31 of 9s 3d. The principal litems (of c.xjieiidituj'o were:—l'rifloffl labour for 2 months £2O, wages day labour, fencing and planting trees £6 15s lid, trees, Morshead Nursery Co. and Mrs Mitohimson £9 7s (id, two turnstiles £5 7s 3d, Sladden and Pafiner £4 16s-, Murton and Co. £2 14s 6d. Cr. Wilson, in moving the adoption of tho balance-sheet- nt the Council meeting, referred to the small amount of subscriptions collected only £3 2s. In granting £.">o the Council did so on the assumption that the subscriptions would approximate £ for £ with that amount. He considered the Hoard should endeavour to more fully carry out their obligations in this direction. At the same time he recognised that, the Hoard had done very good work with their small revenue. Cr.llrown seconded the motion for adoption. As mentioned in the report the Hoard had previously planned to canvass for subscriptions, but !iad out of consideration for the pujtyUc refrained as at that time the town was being canvassed in connection with the exhibition. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, the work of the Hoard being generally commended/
