FRANiiLEV. The annual meeting In connection with the Frankley Roud district was convened for Snturday afternoon at the office of the secretary (Mr M. Fleetwood), but lo]>sed for want of a quorum. The chairman (Mr H. Okcy) and two members of the Hoard, Messrs E. S. Allen and C. Hilling, were tiho only persons to put in an appearance. Considerable discussion ' took place as to the necessity for more active measures being taken for the eradication of noxious weeds in tho district, EG MONT. A meeting of the Kgmont Road Hoard was held on Saturday afternoon, when there were present : Messrs Rowe, Sahvny, Davy, and John Martin. Mr llowe was re-elected chairman for the year. Messrs Kirton and O. Hobv wailed on tho Board with a view to seeing what arrangements could be made lor the construction of the road through the Glenavon estate, near the Waiwakaiho. It appeared that Iho road had been gazetted about two years ago on the understanding that the settlers would take steps to raise a loan through the Board, but nothing had since been done.
The Hoard decided not to spend any money on tlio road, but intimated their willingness to consider a letitiun for the raising of a loan subject to its being signed by all the ratepayers interested, and their agreement to pay a special.loan rale.
Accounts amounting to £1.04 17s SM', to bo paid on the King and Hursthouse Roads contracts, were passed, as wore various other! uc•ounts. totalling £139 Osi 9d. Mr Davy was authorised to call for tenders for ten chains of Dorset Uoad, the cost not to exceed £2 per chain.
