(To the Editov.) , Sir,—With reference to iny remarks at the Inaugural ceremony of the new council a few evenings ago 1 stated my intention of conveniiiK a public meeting to defend myself against what 1 considered a calumny contained in a letter written by Air Samuel to the Exhibition Committee. I have since ascertained thut the information supplied to Jfr Samuel by the Auditor and Segretui\v justified him in making, the statements contained in his letter to which I referred, although that information supplied to him was without foundation. Under these circumstances I withdraw all Imputations against Mr Samuel and am satisfied to let the matter rest.—Yours, etc., H. COCK. Now Plymouth, May 8, J906,
