The new grandstand and other buildings, erected at a cost of £2OOO, were used for the first time. Lord Plunkct and the officers of H.M-.S. THE MARE MAUVIA. A meeting of the Tnranaki Committee, with reference to putting- Uie mare Marvia on the forfeit list, was held on Monday. The mare was leased from Sl* Standish by Mr .1. McCracki.il, and ran in the' hitter's name at the February meeting ol' the Club. The fees not being paid )to the club, the committee gave McCracken notice that if the fees wore, not paid he would be placet! on the forfeit list. Mr Standish .slated the mure was now in his possession and he d:d not think it fair that he should pay the foes incurred bv Mr McCracken. The. Committee decided "That this Committee regrets that it cannot make any exception in the case of the mare Marvia, and that she must be treated in lha same manner as other libra*, the mures of which are to be placed on thunpaid forfeit list if the forfeits are not paid by noon on May Kith." Mr n. O'Brien had the misfortune to lose a valuable yearling lilly by', Malatua, yesterday. Thu animal had only been ailing for about two days, the of death beinz unknown. 6
