Recreation Grounds Board.
The annuul meeting of the Board was held last evening at the office of Mr F. P. Corkill. Present : Messrs C. W. Govett (chairman), S. Percy Smith;, F. P. Corkill, W. L. Newman, and H. C. Hughes. Apologies for absence were received from Mr H. Ford and tho Borough Council representatives. The chairman read his annual statement, already published, and the secretary read the balance sheet for the past 15 months-, which was adopted as follows 1 : Receipts.—Cash in hand £ls 14s Id, balance in bank £r> Sis Id. donation box in grounds £7 13s 9d, eubscript.ions (hon. members) £44 lis, special donations £25 17s 3d, sale of shrubs £4 0s 6cf, football £53 14s, sports £24 ss, cricket £3 lis, Borough Council subsidy 18 months £l5O, rents £7 10s, boat hire nnd license 13s, training fee 2s 6d, lishjng 10s, White Hart Hotel 19s 4d, Acclimatisation Society £lO ; total £354 10s Gd.
Expenditure.—Wages (two permanent men) £lßl 10s, bonus to men £lO, casual labour £l7 7s (Jd, bird food £8 8s 4d, timber £3,"> 7s <id tools £4 is 3d, stumps f>s, bank charges £1 17s, cart ins 18s (ki, accident insurance 19s 7d, law costs 21s), shrubs 20s, rent 10*, printing and advertising (Including old account £8 18s) £l3 I 5» 7d, flagstaff £lO. concrete culvert and gun stands £lO 4s, repairs to'.boat and hand cart £1 Gs, painting bridges £22 12s, sundry charges as per lato secretary's account £2l Is lOd ; balance at Hank. £."> Ms lid ; cash in hand, £3 15s ftd ; total, £354 10s 6b. The Committee of the lato Star sports wrote asking the Hoard to accept tho'sum of £lO instead of £l(s us for. the use, of the grounds on Eaater Monday, owing to the poor attendance of .the public. It was resolved, that the committee bo informed that the Hoard rogrets it is unable to accede to the request. It was decided that the Acclimatisation Society be permitted to erect a fish hatchery in the grounds subject to the approval of the Hoard. Tho Hoard's attention having been called to an advertisement for a football match in the grounds on Thursday next that it Is proposed to charge guto-money, and for which no authority had Iwen asked on obtained from the Hoard, it w a s resolved that no such charge be permitted. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to the chairman for his past services, to the secretary, and to Mr Corkill for the.use of his offices.
