(Per Press Association.) DI'XEDIN, May :i. There is every lvason to helievo lhat some bones recently found iu the Catlins district are the remains of J'r. Schmidt, who fifty years ago undertook an expedition from tho Mataura to the Molyneux through the hush aiul Uisappcared. lie was traced by tho late Mr Jenkin.'on to within 500 or 600yda oi where tho bones have been found. Mr T. Mackenzie, M.H.H., has just paid a visit to the district to investigate the matter, and i l ' of opinion that the boi;es are those of Dr. Schmidt ; but nothing was found to settle the. point. lie is bringing away some "of the remains to submit to the authorities. The rest lie and Mr Fleming, of the Clutha Leader, gathered together and erected a cairn over them.
