Twelve Years' Stewardship.
MR SEDDON IIEVIBWS THE PAST WELLINGTON, April 29. (Per Press Association.) Yesterday, was the twelfth anniversary of Mr Soddon's assumption of office us l'remier. Speaking at a gathering at Petone last night, Mr. Seddpn passed under review, the, jioriod during which ho had been head oj' the Government. He said that judging by the number of congratulatory telegrams he had received from all parts.- of the colony there wero many who beliovcd the country had not suffered by his being Prime Minister. Other nations would have to build their legislation on the lines followed by New Zealand if there wus to be ]>cuce between capital and labour in those countries. The Immigration Restriction Hill had been called undedirabio Hill, but as time went on people would require legislation to prevent being contaminated by the derelicts of older countries. Mr SoaV don made reference to the railways superannuation fund, which was in a satisfactory pos'ilion. Ho spoke of the 'duty of tho Government in regurit to providing land in suburban districts for building purposes.
