Fitzroy Fire Brigade.
The "first annual meeting of subscribers to the Fitzroy Fire 'llrigado was held at the local hall on Wednesday evening. Mr W. Cutticld presided over a moderate attendance. A full report was presented by Captain Griffiths, _ setting forth all that had been done since the formation of the Brigade in April of last year. TSe .balance sheet showed a debit of £ll. The expenditure amounted to about £SO, to furnish t-he brigade with gear. The shed for the housing of tho appliances has not boon paid for, tho liability ainounting to £ls. This is tho cost of material only, as the labour in erecUng the structure was gratuitously given by membors. Thi) report and balance sheet werp adopted, those present considering that the brigade lvad done very well indeed since its inception. Messrs Cutlield, Steele and Klbby were "elected to represent the subscribers on the finance committee. Votes of thanks were accorded to tho outgoing finance committee", tho auditors, Messrs C. F. Footo and O, Johnson, and the ladies who assisted to organise the last annual ball,which proved such a success. A meeting of the finance committee was liokl subsequently, when it was decided to convene a meeting of the ladies of Fitzroy for Saturday afterno 0 n„ to make arrangements lor the second annual b.al|, which it is proposed' to on June 8, There are now 7G subscribers on the list, and general sstis*fuctlon is' expressotf at the efficiency of the brigade. The officers for the ensuing year arc Captain F. C. Griffithsl; foremen, W. Griffiths and \V. Hardwick ; and Hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr A. Weller. Thoro art sixteen members of the brigade, including the officers.
