The Rarawa Drowning Case.
BODY RECOVERED. , Since Wednesday last l ,, when a passenger named Herbert Gower, a single man residing at Patea, was missed off the s.Sj Rarawa when nearing the New Plymouth breakwater, a sharp lqok-out has been kept for tha body. The gruosome discovery was tnadq shortly after 2 o'clock on Tuesday, when the body was secured by the employees of the dredge, which was working near thcend of the breakwater. The body, which was in a good state of preservation though in the water for SL'ven days, was removed from the water by the police, and taken to the Breakwater Hotel, where an inquest will be opcroed at 11 a.m. today. On the deceased's clothes was found a bank draft for £IOO, and £7 18s in notes and cash. The case was supposed at the time to be one of suicide, though it is possible that deceased fell overboard by accident. Mr Alfred Gower, brother of the deceased, will come from Tatea to formally identify the body, and give evidence at the inquest.
