0 HAZES THE 11UEAKWATEU. When entering the New Plymouth harbour on Monday morning ot 7 o'clock the master of the steam collier Kini, which arrived from Hrey- , month with a cargo of i SOO tons of coul, hud u rather unpleasant experience. Being somewhat difficult to handle expeditiously as this clot-s of vessel sometimes proves, the Kini whin steaming in slowly to be berthed at the west side of the wharf failed to answer to her helm quickly enough when near the breakwater. The consequence was that she swung over and came in contact with portion of the structure. Fortunately, the sand bank which forms a kind of protecting barrier against the stonework on the lee side broke the force of the impact, and the . damage sustained was but trifling, being coniined to the slight denting of one of the vessel's plates. The Kini wos soon snugly berthed, and the work of discharging coal commenced.
