0 WILLIAMSON'S OPBHA COMPANY "THE MIKADO." The Theatre Koyal was filled to the doors on Friday ovoning, when Williamson's Opera Company concluded their two nights' season by staffing "The Mikado," one of the most popular of Uilliert and Sullivan's productions. The performance was presented by the company in a ninnner which added fresli laurels to their reputation, and aroused much enthusiasm on the part of the am!'' enee. The mounting was superb, the .-augc properties being identical with those used iu the large capitals. The racy music, songs, and choruses won loud applause, and the- chorus was exceptionally good. The orchestra, under the veteran, M. Leon Caron, contributed in a large manner to the I,leisure of the production. Miss Dolly Castles, as Yum Yuin, appeared to much advantage, her natural vivacity, histrionic ability, and louitiful voice having ample score. Alt her vocal numbers were enthusiastically upplauded, the number '."The Moon and 1" being u real gem. Ms Chas. Kenninghuui. as Xatiki. poo, al-o made a --hit,", his vocal numbers being very well received, especially "A Wandering Minstrel, 1." Sir Howard Vernon was responsible for ninth humour as the Lord High Executioner, and Mr Ernest Fills, as Pooh Hah, handled u clever part admirably. -Mr John Mnlston also did good work as Pish Tish, a hohlo lord, while Mr Frank Wilson played the Mikado. Miss Aggie Thorn and Miss Vinia de Loitte were associated with Miss Dolly Castles as the wards of Ko-Ko, and gave a pretty impress sion, the song, "Three Little Maids from School" winning much applause. Miss Celia Ghilono handled the difficult part of Katisha with a degree of skill that was recognised by the audience, and also showed herself a vocalist of no mean order. Taken all round, the performance , was up to Mr Williamson's best tra- . ditions, and won warm euconiums . from every person present. The company went to Auckland i last night*
