THE LAUD COMMISSION.
(Per Press Association.) CHKLSTCIiritCH, April 1:3. The Laird Commission arrived here to-night after holding sittings at, Methven and Rakaia. The proceedings at the latter place were of ail abortive character, ow'ing to the fact that 110 notice had been given of tlnj Commission's intention to sit there. The secretary oi the local branch of the Liberal League Federation and two settlers from the Mead Settlement gave evidence in favour of the leasehold. The Chairman of the Commission stated with regard to the Rakaia sitting that he had sent the Crown Lands ranger to the adjacent settlement to ask witnesses to attend and give evidence. The Commission will visit Lincoln I College to-morrow, and hold sittings here on Saturday.
