PLEADS "GUILTY.'' (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 13. Alfred Strmgfoliow, who was charged on Wednesday with having stolen the sum o( £240 from Matthew Gear, ami pleaded "not guilty/' was brought before Mr S. E., McCarthy. S.lf., to-day. Alter the hearing' of the case on Wednesday, accused had notified the police that. ,hc wished to plead 'guilty," and j that was the reason he was again ! brought forward. The depositions ! were read to him, said when asked if he had anything to say, replied : "I am guilty of the charge, but I was tempted, and am very sorry indeed. .It is the first time X have been charged -with anything." The prisoner was about to .say more, when the Magistrate informed him that he would be able to make a statement at the Supreme Court. He was remanded to the Supremo Court for sentence.
