APPLICATIONS FOR GREENFIELD. (Per Press Association.) DI'NEDIN, April 11. Applications closed to-day for sections oni tho Greenfield Estate recently acquired by the Govern,ll,-nt 'or closer settlement. The propiriv comprises 21,779 acres, divided into Hfl selections, varying froiu 201 to 979 acres, and one smaJ! grazing run. Forty-one applications were lodged at Dunedin, 19 at Lawrence, und 'l4 at Balclutha. These cover about three-fourths of the property, and it is anticipated that the balance will be taken up bv~ilu>se unsuccessful in the ballot for the choicer sections. There are 110 applications for the small grazing run. The fiallot takes place at Lawrence on Saturday.
