. • CHRISTCHURCH, April St (Per Press Association.} At the Magistrate's Court this morning a child ten years old was brought up on a chargo of no Visible means of Subsistence. The mother, a single woman, has been an imbecile from birth. The S.M., in committing the child temporarily to the Samaritan Home, and the mother" to the asylum, expressed himself in terms; of horror and disgust that such things were possible in a civilised community, and he rciraested the police to make a searching investigation' with a view to ascertaining who Uxo child's father is* A CLOTHIER'S CONVICTION.
