News has been received of another native rising against Catholic mis- ' siunaries in the Bismarck Archipelago It appears the missionaries near Berlinbofen, near the scone of the recent ' massacre, took two native children from their parents and placed them in the mission school. The natives resented this, and made a hostile demonstration to recover them. When Snows of the peril of the missionaries reached the German Governor of Herbertsboke ho immediately proceeded to the scene with armed police. On their arrival the natives retreated to the bush. The results of the encounter were not known when the steamer bringing the news left. The natives asked the Governor to remove the missionaries promising' that peace would reign if this were done* I
