Signalman did two rounds on the tan plensinglly. Mack Reynard wus only nske.i to do trotr ting work. Knliaroa will represent Mr Thompson in the Thompson Handicap. Machine Gun went once round at half-pace, did some trotting, and spurted a couple of furlongs. Levant did two rounds at thrcc-tiuai'ter pace, finishing at top. l.issa jumped four hurdles in good tile, pulled on '.* the tan, and went about two miles, the Inst round at tup. (ihoorkn (Jenkins) unci Kxmoor (Price) jumped oft together at the mile post on toe grass. Kxuioor was beaten at the top of the straight. (;ii„orka ran the distance in lmin 17 3-ssc': wilhmt being ridden out. lie will probably reproi tent Mr Monk in the big race. Gold ■ Crown (Jenkins) ran four furlongs l in 55sec, six in lmin 24 l-iJsec, and the full distance in lmin oO 4-ssec. | - Trumpery went two rounds on the - tan, pulling Trice out of the saddle t all the way. AXTICIPATIOXS HY "MOTUROA." The Wellington autumn meeting commences to-day, and will be concluded on Saturday. For some reason or other the fields are small compared with last year. The Thompson Handicap contains material lor a good ran 1 ;. The double event "tote" will l>c worked on the Thompson and Railway Handicaps.
Eight horses figure on the card for the first, event, the Handicap Hurdles, about one mile ani Ihreernuarters. If Trumpery cun produce his Wunganui form one need look no further for the winner, Rungaruwa should bo close up lo the winner with his light impost of 9.0. Ho demonstrated his ability over slicks by beating a field of fifteen last rtecciDlier in the Wuituna Hack Hurdles at Feilding. The son of Lethe Is well just now, having won the Flying Handicap, six furlongs;. In 1 inin Hiscc, nl Danncvlrkc on the Bth Inst.
The Waiwetu Handicap, seven furlongs, is rather difficult to guago, owing to throe of the acceptors ligr uring In the next event, the Wg inotfcy. The lop weights. Mack lleynard and Kaharoa, represent one stable, and whatever they elect to send should witt. with Gold Crown and Auratus next best.
The Thompson Handicap, one milo, is the next event. Barring Exmoor and Starshooti all the acceptors have proved stake earners lately, and tho winner appears well concealed. Katuxroa is a much improved horse, and has lix.ii very consistent ; he will take a power of beating., Signalman, .Sir Geo. Clifford's representative, is nicely pluced with 7.8 ; last month ho curried 8.2 lo victory in the Craven Plate at the C.J.c" meeting, running the seven furlongs in lmin 29sec. The I'orirua stuhlu has two canUidutes Ghoorka and Kxtuoor, The former has a good record luttfly, und will most likely be the stable's elect. To niakc a selection I will take ;—Kaharoa 1, Signalman 2, Ghoorka 3. Taking a line through llorowhenua running, Maui looks u good thing in the Silverstrcam Hack, one mile. St. Winifred has not Ijcen seen out lately, but if wall appears the best of the otNers on the card.
Previous running shoi/ld throw light on the Railway Handicap, six furlongs,, as four out of six have previous engagements. If reserved, Ballarat should win, with Chryseis and Boris next in order.
In th'e Hcrctaunga Handicap, nine furlongs, Gold Crown and Hydrant appear to have good chances. The North Island Challenge Stakes' of seven furlongs should provide a good go between Achillea, Machine Gun, and King Billy, in the order mentioned.
The closing item ol the day. the jTinakori Ilucfc, six furlongs, contains a field of ten, of which Maui, Hukaaka, and Golden Coirth appear the best. The two former scored at Horottfocniia, and Golden Comb, a five-year-old gelding l;y Gold Reef— Lorco, won'Uic Wei (or ut Greymouth on th'e 17th' inst. The Judges' placing may find—Maui 1, Hukaaka 2, Golden Comb 3.
