PROPOSED LIGHT RAILWAY.
(Per Press Association.) 01SI1O11NK, March 27. The Conk County Council 10-tlay consideiol the proposed inland W-ai-apu light railway from Tc Kuraka. It was decided that lifly miles to Matahia from Te Karaka should lie . constructed. it is estimated that the total cost will be £IOO,OOO and the interest would amount to JUMfiOO per annum. The Government is to be nsked to pass an Act empowering the construction of a narrow gauge line, the Government guaranteeing the inteps't. and indemnifying themselves by rating, if necessary, under the betterment plan. Tlie Government, is also to be e.s'-ic:l to assist by a money grant, because the line would greatly increase the receipts of the Gisborne-Karaka line.
