Opportune reinforcements averted disaster parallel to that which marked the battle of Colenso in the Boer war. . Colonel Ujida, command, r oi the battery, a brilliant artillery expert, was kiillcd : twelve officers were seriously and two s'ightly wounded. Eight non-commissioned officers were wounded, and a few men suffered.
