BRILLIANT ARTILTERY ACTION.
THE COMMANDER KILLED. REINFORCEMENTS AVERT DISASTER. (Received March 2:!, 0.2 a.m.) LONDON, March 22. A battery of artillery on the .Inpanese extreme left, attacking- Mukden, fought with exceptional distino tion. Guns were galloped in close proximity to the enemy, and though man ; iter man was riddled with bullets, the service of the guns was not iivterrupted. Opportune reinforcements averted disaster parallel to that which marked the battle of Colenso in the Boer war. . Colonel Ujida, command, r oi the battery, a brilliant artillery expert, was kiillcd : twelve officers were seriously and two s'ightly wounded. Eight non-commissioned officers were wounded, and a few men suffered.
