The valuations thus total £3,721,899, the unnuul contriih,utions ou this basis £1550 lis Bd, and the nionthly contributions £129 4s 3d. The revenue from local bodies this year wifc therefore bo less by £3ll 2s Id than last year, with a corresponding loss of £3ll 2s 4*l in subsidy from the Government.
'J he Chuirnyin (Mr (i Tiseh) explained the position, and moved a resolution, striking a rate of 10d' in the £IOO on local bodies for the year ending Minrch 31, ]9o(>. He touched on (iw figures stating that in the new circumstances the inI crease of one penny in the rate was absolutely necessary.
After some discussion the motion was carried.

from the clerk in the Taranaki County Council :—"I um directed by the Taranaki County Council (one of live largest coutrlUutlng bodies to your Hoard's funds) to cull ntlention to furthcoming adjustment ol accounts between your Board, and th'e new Stratford Hospital Hoard, and to point out particularly the injustice of throwing large buildings on a small district."
In the discussion which followedlit was pointed out that tho members of the Board were fully alive to the situation, and would do aJI in their power to put the position Ijefore the Government „ n the adjustment being made. The letter was formally received and acknowledged.
