A double tragedy uniirn .1 1 Ills morning in a house at Newtown, tlie front premises of which were occupied by John Housell, saddler's shop, anil the upper portion |,y Mrs l'uglt, her daughter (Mrs Hughes;, ami three children. Housell boarded with the women. About seven o clock this morning Mis Pugh went to HouseH's room to cnii liim, and found her daughter lying on the floor, dying, having been apparently poisoned. She rushed downstairs to Housell, and found him in tile shop with half - his head blown off by u Winchester rifle. Housell was about 30 years of age. lie was in fuianciaj difficulties, the ba'ililTs having been instructed to take possession. It is also asserted that the husband of Mrs Hughes had intended to institute divorce proceedings.
