A petS-slock dealer in an American, city has in his shop window a sign that reads —" Dogs on biro<by day. weeE, or hour. Rates reasonable." A man asked the dealer, the other day, the significance of the s'gn : " Oh, it means just what it says," the dealer said ; '' people like to hire dogs now and then, the same as they like to hire horses and pianos. 1 clear from this branch of my- business quite ten dollars a week.
