FIRE BRIGADES DEMONSTRATION.

The competitors at the tire brigades' demonstration were entertained at a smoke concert to-night, when there was a large attendance, including the mayors of the city and suburban boroughs. The prizes so far won were presented by Kir J. (!. The hose and hydrant campetitiun for three men is not completed, 28 out of about 60 having run off'. Hranchman Maxwell, of Te Aroha, was taken .suddenly ill on Wednesday and had to be sent to the hospital to-day, where he lies in a precarious condition.
