The Japanese ransack«a the freight yard at Mukden railway station, after a series of encounters with the Russians at close quarters. The Times' St. Petersburg correspondent reports that Kuropa'ikin informed the Czar that an enormous mass of Japanese are .north-west of Mukden, which necessitated imnieliate retreat. It is feared in St. Petersburg that the army, may bs i_ compelled to cut itfi -«fcy theough the Tieling Pass, exposed in a {three days' march to. therisfc of annihilation. General Kusopatkin was reinforced a .ew days ago, and the. only hope now is that these fresh troops mav stave off-a, crushing defeat; and enable kurbptttkin to remove the stores and guns. The Russian losses in 1 ten dayss' battle is officially given at 8:tO olliccrs and a3.<XtO men.
