The officer So whom the querv was addressed showed a lack of knowledge of thtf district by replying in the negative, and Iho Mayor (Mr It. Cock) has taken the matter up. Any person acquainted with , the country around the borough is , well aware that there are any ; amount of admirable sites nvallnblo lor the purpose, and that it would j boliard to excel the locality between | jOninta and 801 l Block as a mWtary , j rendezvous. In addition, the position and accessibility of New l'ly- , mouth as; thp railway terminus is | an argument in its favour. It is to jbo trusted that the matter will bo strongly represented to the authorities, and that New riymouth will I have ihe pleasure of welcoming ihe visiting forces at E»etcr t
