JOWLEY'S WAXWORKS t'OMPAXV Rowley's London Company coninues to do excellent business at he Theatre Royal. The matinee on Saturday afternoon for ladies and :hildren was deservedly well jjatronsed, and the programme was hear. ,ily received by young and old. The :ompetitions filled well, no less than ourteen young folk coming forward or the singing contest. The even* ng "house" was perhaps the best ,'el recorded, the baby show exeitng a goad deal of interest. f|Thc nr•ay of numerous chubby, healthy, ind prettily-dressed infants was certainly such as to dispel all pessiniism about a declining : iit'.-iv •• in this portion of Ihe mluny n; nny rate. 'l'o make a selection wvs. in i|>V circumstances, n delicti l\<i matter, but probably the award to .".lUs Bessie Johns, eleven months old, was correct, and amidst applause the prize, a well-finished perambulator, was awarded to Miss Johns. A bun eating contest l\ r boys evoked roars of laughter. Professor Boxland's electrical display, the shadowgraph exhibition, Dante's conjuring feats, Mr Ward bear's comedian specialties, and the various variety turns made up a capital programme. The company will show again on Monday night. A prize of a silver watch will be presented to the most prettily dressed boy or girl under the age of ten years, and an entertaining item will be a hattrimming contest for boys, the winner to be awarded a watch.
