SERIOUS FIRE AT DEVONPORT.

(Pet Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Feb. 27. A serious Are occurred at Devonport this morning in an adjoining eight-roomed house, owned by tho Rev. Slade, and occupied by Mr O. S. lluiM. As an alarm from the lirebell was not given until about twenty minutes after the fire was disco veered the building was enveloped in flames when the brigade arrived. Mr Budd suffered a heavy loss through thp action of the fire and water. The fire spread very quicMly, and the occupants had very little time to escape. The furniture is insured in the Sun office for about £l5O, and tho house is also understood to bo insured.
