GORE POLICE COURT.
CASE DISMISSED AMIDST APPLAUSE. (Per Press Association.) INVEKCAIUiILL, Feb. 21. At the Gore Police Court to-day John I), liussell charged Mary McCiinn with stealing two gold watches, two bangles, seven hroochi es and live rings, of the value of £27. The woman had been engaged ' us housekoeiwr, but only stayed two 1 days, and when she was arrested she was wearing a watch und a pin which • she said Hussell had given her. She 1 left, she said, because he made im- . proper overtures to her. No other jewellery was found with her. The I I police after investigation had decidf ed to prosecute, und Hussell did so. ' Mr Hanlon (Dunvdin), for accused, said the charge was u filthy, dirtj ■ one. withoue n tittle of foundation. 1 The charge was dismissed amidst the . applause of the people ht Court. s Ik-lluncy, a young fellow already - serving a sentence for theft from a - Gore shop, was committed for trial > for u similar offence, lielluncy hime self being the principal witness.
