(Per Prow Association.) ! INVEHCARGILL, Feb. 22. • The Land Commission sat again this morning, when evidence wan tendered by members of the Southland Land Hoard.
John Hay, Chief Surveyor, and Commissioner of Crown Lands, Southland, feu U1 ho thought that land boards, aa constituted at prowem, are most suitable, but If any clmage should take place half the members of the board should be olected by Crown tenants, and the other half nominated a* at prraent. There are sixteen different tenures in vogue in Southland, the principal of which, besides the freehold purchase, are : Deferred payment, perpetual leases, village settlement under perpetual lease, village homestead, and special wttleinouts. liters were too many tenures, and h# would do away with village homestead settlements.
