Maltreatment of Blacks.
(Received Feb. 13, 9.22 p.m.) PEKTH, Feb. 13. An extract has been published from Dr. Roth's report wherein he states | thai an alroriginal child only fourteen years of age is at present undergoing two years' hard labour | for alleged cattle killing. * Examined by Dr„ Ho'th, he said he was caught fcy a policeman, who asked if he harl killed any cattle, lie replied in 'the negative, 'but the policeman and another man having talked together, said they would shoot him. One of them painted a loaded revolver at him, and, being frightenedl he said he ted Pilled a bullouk He was then taken with some other blacks, who., also being frightened, s&id they had ki;lled bullocks. The policeman hand-cuffed and leg-ironed them, and with other black men and women caught subsequently they w-ere taken away to a Courthouse. Here they said nothing because they | had been told not to talk. The Magistrate did not ask them whether they had killed bullocks or not, and they were sent to gaol
