ENERGY GOING TO WASTE.
"(Per Press Association.) WAIROA, Feb. 5. Mr E. W. Roper, of Ohristchurch, who has been visiting Lake Waikarenioaiia, lias stated at an interview that what struck hjm even more than the beauty of the lake is the enormous power which -is going to wash,- there. The fulls at the lake arc such a source of energy that, if properly developed, they " would make Wairoa the industrial centre of tho district. Mr Roper looks upon 'tile Waikaretaheki River flowing from the lake as, on account of the height of its source, th'o best power stream -in the colony.-
