DROWNING FATALITIES.
DEATH OF A WOMAN. (For Press Association.) WANGANIT, Feb. 5. What looks like a determined case of suicide occurred yesterday, when Sirs King, a widow of about 35 years of age, was drowned in 'the river. Deceased, whose body has not. yet been recovered, went to the further side of the river (opposite the town), divested herself of part of her clothijig, and ri'fter wading f„r some time walked out to a sandspit near the middle of the river, and disappeared. Her actions were observod by some boys on the town s-ide of the liver, who subsequently gave information to the police. She was employed domestically with a family at Aramoho, and in the morning, after telling one of her employer's | children that she was going awav, she was seen to go across a paddock towards a creek in which there is a deep wnterhole. The gate, however, was locked, and she returned to the house, saying she was going to New Plymouth by the afternoon train, but would have :ito go to town afterwards. DEATH OF A CHILD. WANGANIT, Feb. 5. A drowning accident is reported from Kauangaroa, a little girl named Cameron being the victim. Particulars are no| yet available.
