The acceptances received for the Taranaki Jockey Club's Summer Meeting .augur well for the success of the gathering, which commemces on Wednesday next. Mr John Marshall, owner of San Paulo (St. Paul-Fishfog) is reported to have won about £SOO in addition to the stake over his victory in the Ferry Handicap at Takapuna last Saturday. San Paulo is a half brother to Cannongate, and is also the first of St. Paul's progeny to score. San Paulo was carrying top weight, Bst lOlbs, and he won his race easily by two lengths. He figures as an acceptor for the local meeting, and should be worth watching with the handy impost of 7st lllbs, including 51bs penalty. The Auckland Racing Club have cancelled the jockey's license held by W. Satman. So far no less than seven horses ! engaged at the local meeting have secured winning honours at the Takapuna meeting, which concludes today. They will be penalised accordingly. The well-known cross-country horseman J. Katterns (Major), who 'has been giving the game a spell !for a while, has been gjranted a license by the Auckland Racing Club. Convoy is i now located in the South Island. Gladsome, who has lieen enjoying/ a well-earned spell, is in work jagain. She will most likely be seen out at the Australian Cup meeting. I Dolores was looked upon as a good thing for tlie First Hurdles at iTakapuna on Saturday. She was ' bjcaten three lengths tbjv Irish, to I whom she was conceding 291bs. 1 Mr G. O. Stead is represented in the A.J.C. Derby by three colts, namely : —Noctuiiorm, by Multiform —La Notte ; Sungod, by Multiform —Otterden ; Cuneiform, by Multiform —Bluelire ; and Porcelain, Wy Multiform—Saucer. Mr G. G. Stead hns claimed the following! names for the two year ; olds purchased at the Wellington j Park sale :—Seal Rock for the San [Francisco— Miss Gladys colt ; Hujascar for the Hotchkiss—St. Elyn colt ; lleorlhcn for the Phoebus Apj olio—Hilda fi.ly ; and St. Regis for the Hotchkiss—St. Evelyn filly.

Mr G. F. Moore, owner of Armistice, secured a yearling filly by San Fran out of Melinite, therefore half sister to Armistice. Handsome Rose is to be tried at the illegitimate game. MrW. T. Hazletl, who is one of the part-owners of Vladimir and Astrakhan, made a bargain when he. purchased Lady Soult at the National sales, as the daughter of Soull and Hipporina has won five out of the eight times in which she has started in his name.

At the recent Wellington meeting the South Island horsrs secured eight events, including the Cup and Wellesley Stakes: The Porirua stable had no less [than twelve representatives racing* at the above meeting. Gold and Marguerite were the only winners. On the same date the disappointing Exmoor was figuring in a maiden hack hurdle race at Foxton. Adam McMorran vode him, and had a rough time, as Exmoor gtave a poor exhibition of jumping, and was hopelessly beaten long ere half the distance was covered. The Grafton gelding was a warm favourite, and would only have paid £1 16s had he won.

' Golden Lily seems to have lost all ' the form she showed as a two year ; old. The team under the control of 1 Frank Ross pretty nearly succeeded in going through the programme at Te Ardh'a on Monday last, five wins ■ and a second being the record hi the seven events which came up for decision. Rolf won the Hurdle Race ; Vanquish got home first in the Hack Handicap ; Little Mabel scored in the Pony Handicap ;■ while Whakaliihi won the double—Te Aroha Handicap and Welter Handicap. St.. Rowan, who hails from Ross' stable, was only beaten a head for the principal event. Mahutonga is apparently to lie given an opportunity of again secu-. ring Cup honours. The big son of [Quilt has been entered for the Wangnnui Cup, which event is set down jfor decision on the 2nd prox. I Kudu will make her final appearance in hack company at the local j meeting. She is very well at present, and on Foxton form, she should be hard to beat. TRAINING NOTES.
