THE FIRE AT WELLINGTON.

CONTENTS OF SAFES RECOVERED. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, .Inn. 27. The books and cash of the D.1.C., contained in three large/ safes, are intact. Mr Corrigan, the local manager of the company, says he can only suggest the fusing of an electric light wire as the cause of the outbreak. He stated that a smell of burning had been noticed in the building, but that was not unusual, as it often came from outside. It was not, however, passed unnoticed. A thorough inspection of the building was made, without result.
