SLEEPING FAMILY MURDERED.

NEW YORK, Dec. 8. Last night a terrible tragedy occurred at Trenton, South Carolina, Mr Benjamin Hughes, a wealthy planter, his wife, a nd two daughters having all been brutally murdered while sleeping. The first intimation that the neighbours got of the terrible event was the sight of flames bursting from the house occupied by Mr Hughes and his family. An investigation showed that Mr Hughes had -lwen killed by a shot from a revolver, while his wife and daughters had -been butchered, as they lay in bed, with an uxe From the footprints discovered it is apparent that three men were concerned, and bloodhounds have been put on their trail.
